Accomplishments YTD 2011

As of July 31, our center has met with 252 clients, delivering 1,111 consulting sessions for a total of 2,138 consulting hours — far exceeding our goals.

The average client has received eight hours of professional business consultation in the areas of Finance and Capital Access, Business Planning and Marketing, Cash Flow Management and Start-up assistance.

To date, the Center has assisted in raising over $4,000,000 in capital for area small businesses, assisting in creating or retaining an estimated 237 jobs.

The Center has delivered start-up education in collaboration with South Central College, as well as Profit Mastery through the College of Extended Learning.  Additional training is offered on an ongoing basis with partners such as the Minnesota Department of Revenue, Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation, Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) and area professionals.

In addition, the Director has assisted in several classrooms on campus in the College of Business, Construction Management and Urban and Regional Studies. He has also presented to high school classrooms in Mankato, St. James and St. Clair.

The Center contracts with seven independent business consultants, including two of MSU’s MBA students.
